Making headway

The Making Headway programme was launched in early 2009 to help people from South Tyneside into work. This project is a partnership between South Tyneside Council, Jobcentre Plus, Groundwork and CREST.

The aim is to help people who are out of work back into work. This is done by a team of advisors, based in community venues throughout the borough, who can provide support, which is flexible, responsive and tailored to an individuals needs.
The support may include:
· Support with job search
· Advice on qualifications or skills needed and how to get them
· Help with job applications and interview preparation
· Advice on tax credits and other benefits entitlements while at work
· Advice on childcare support
· Help to overcome health problems and disabilities
· Confidence building to help individuals make decisions
· Support to help individuals to decide their futures
