Cleadon Park, an award winning estate
Cleadon Park Regeneration Partnership is celebrating after scooping a prestigious Housing Corporation Gold Award.
The partnership fought off tough competition to scoop the coveted award, in it’s Delivering Joined up Development category.
The award is in recognition for the work in regenerating Cleadon Park.
The £90 million project is being delivered by a partnership of South Tyneside Council, NomadE5 and Bellway Homes and is expected to be completed in 2010/11.
A mix of 750 properties, both for sale and rent, along with community facilities including a Primary Care Centre and library will transform one of the most rundown areas in South Tyneside into a flagship modern estate.
Cleadon Park has been designed to bring the streets to life. Designated a Home Zone, it is a place where children can play safely and where streets belong to the people rather than to cars.
The project is far from simply a housing scheme. It is about truly regenerating a community from the ground up.
